3T MRI and 64 Slice CT3T MRI, PET/CT and CT Featuring 64 Slice Technology

At the Forefront of Medical Imaging.

3t Mri And 64-Slice Ct
Newport Diagnostic Center (NDC) is proud to offer the latest achievements in diagnostic imaging including 3T MRI, 64-slice PET/CT and 64-slice CT. With these powerful, versatile imaging modalities, our Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained physicians can diagnose a broad spectrum of conditions faster and more accurately than ever before.

3T MRI with the Power of High Definition (HD)

With MRI, an accurate diagnosis depends on a high-quality scan. A high-quality scan provides a detailed view of a specific area of anatomy with optimal contrast, high image quality, and minimal “noise.” At Newport Diagnostic Center, our GE Signa HDx 3T MRI system has twice the field strength of a conventional magnet, allowing for faster patient exams and unparalleled high-definition MRIs. Our state-of-the-art system offers a better signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and better image resolution.

Newport Diagnostic Center is the only outpatient imaging center in Orange County that offers functional MRI with 3.0 Tesla MRI. Functional MRI (fMRI) is an innovative procedure that uses MRI to measure quick tiny metabolic changes that take place in active parts of the brain. With fMRI, we can determine precisely which part of the brain is handling critical functions such as thought, speech, movement, and sensation. The results are used for planning surgery, radiation therapy, treatment for stroke, and other interventions to treat brain disorders.

Newport Diagnostic Center is the only outpatient imaging center in Orange County, CA that offers fiber tracking with 3.0 Tesla MRI. Diffusion tensor MRI (DT-MRI) is used to track nerve fibers in the white brain matter. Diffusion tensor imaging with fiber tracking helps assess brain disorders such as stroke, tumors, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, autism, and schizophrenia. Fiber tracking can also be used to diagnose brain trauma.

Applications of 3T MRI at Newport Diagnostic Center include:
  • Neurological Imaging
  • Musculoskeletal Imaging (MSK)
  • Perfusion/Diffusion Studies
  • Spectroscopy
  • Cardiac MRI
  • Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA)
  • Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP)

64-Slice CT

Newport Diagnostic Center is committed to staying at the forefront of health imaging technology. We are proud to offer 64-slice computed tomography with the GE LightSpeed VCT system. With its dramatically improved images and fastest scan times in the industry, this innovative system allows us to diagnose a whole host of medical problems faster and more accurately than ever before. Such conditions include coronary artery disease, cancer, benign tumors, aneurysms, heart disease, lung disease, vascular disease, kidney problems, liver disease, musculoskeletal disorders, and more. Unlike traditional CT systems, the 64-slice system is capable of showing internal structures of the body with substantially greater anatomic detail. This helps our physicians make an accurate diagnosis and may eliminate the need for other procedures, such as coronary angiography, exploratory surgery, and surgical biopsy.

At NDC, 64-slice CT is used for a multitude of applications, including:
  • Neurologic Imaging
  • Musculoskeletal Imaging
  • CT Coronary Angiography (CTA)
  • Cardiac Imaging
  • Thoracic and Abdominal Imaging
  • Cerebral, Renal, and Peripheral Angiography
  • Virtual Colonography
  • Lung Scans for Tumors and Pulmonary Nodule

64-Slice PET/CT System

At Newport Diagnostic Center, we combine the strengths of 64-slice CT and PET to offer the fastest and most powerful PET/CT imaging system available today. The sophisticated technology of our PET/CT system provides near-perfect co-registration of PET and CT images. This enables us to see both the structural detail of the CT and metabolic information of the PET together. The combination of these two modalities offers unparalleled sensitivity and specificity, which helps provide more accurate diagnosis and targeted patient treatment. PET/CT exams with 64-slice CT dramatically reduce scanning time, which greatly enhances patient comfort and convenience.

Clinical applications of PET/CT have emerged in several areas:

Oncology
PET/CT allows our radiologists to detect cancer tumors early, determine the stage of cancer, and evaluate the effectiveness of cancer therapy and treatment. PET/CT is also used to check for cancer recurrence.

Neurology
PET/CT is used to evaluate various forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease. PET/CT can help pinpoint areas of the brain responsible for epileptic seizures to help evaluate, guide, and plan surgical treatment.

Cardiology
PET/CT can help diagnose coronary artery disease (CAD) and the extent of heart muscle damage. By assessing myocardial viability, PET/CT can significantly impact a cardiologist’s treatment plan.

Integrated Imaging
At NDC, our capabilities also include “integrated imaging” with several other modalities. With our powerful, advanced workstation, we have the flexibility to fuse metabolic studies such as SPECT or PET with anatomic imaging such as MRI or CT. Fusing outside data provides a unique image format that offers advantages over single-modality display. Diseases or abnormalities can be accurately and efficiently diagnosed, critical structures can be defined with greater precision, and treatment planning can be more exact. Finally, PET/CT plays an integral role in radiation treatment planning by identifying tumor tissue and normal surrounding structures. PET/CT provides radiation oncologists with a highly accurate map of the target. This enables the delivery of a more precise dose of radiation to the targeted area while sparing normal adjacent tissue.
