Newport Diagnostic Center began as an outpatient imaging center specializing in Nuclear Medicine and Cardiac Imaging. A short time later we became the first outpatient center on the Pacific Coast to offer and perform PET whole-body oncology studies.
NDC is one of the few outpatient centers nationwide offering cutting-edge nuclear medicine technology combined with the expertise of board-certified physicians who are dedicated solely to nuclear medicine.
The Nuclear Medicine Department at NDC offers a full spectrum of general nuclear medicine capabilities all with uncompromised image resolution and greater patient comfort and convenience.
NDC continues to build on its nuclear medicine history by offering two of the finest nuclear medicine systems available, with the General Electric (GE) Hawkeye SPECT/CT system and the GE Discovery PET/CT system.
The GE Hawkeye is a hybrid system which combines the functional information obtained from Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) with the anatomical information provided by Computed Tomography (CT). The co-registering or “fusion” of SPECT and CT images allows physicians to visualize disease with more detail and precision than ever before.
Similar to the Hawkeye, the Discovery PET/CT is a hybrid system which combines Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) in one unique system. Physicians are now able to “fuse” the metabolic data of PET imaging with the anatomical and spatial resolution of CT exams with near perfect co-registration. The Discovery PET/CT system also offers patients the convenience of two technologies with one exam. NDC was the first imaging center in Orange County to offer PET/CT on a hybrid system.
Both system offer exciting applications for various medical specialties such as Oncology, Cardiology, and Neurology.
