Newport Diagnostic Center first offered Positron Emission Tomography (PET) in 1991 and has remained at the forefront of this exciting technology.
At a time when PET imaging was only found at large academic institutions, NDC recognized the power of this technology and became the first outpatient facility in the Country to offer PET services. NDC was also the first facility on the West Coast to conduct whole body PET exams on a dedicated system.
NDC later recognized the added benefit of combining or “fusing” PET and CT exams into one study. It was at this time that NDC became the first imaging center in Orange County to provide PET/CT with fusion imaging on a dedicated system. NDC understood the vital information provided by PET/CT at a time when several facilities appreciated the benefits of PET/CT, but took a “wait and see” approach to this new technology. NDC remains committed to offering physicians and patients the very best in medical imaging technology.
Our General Electric (GE) Discovery PET/CT is a dedicated system that combines the functional information from a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) exam with the anatomical information from a Computed Tomography (CT) exam into one single exam.
Dedicated PET/CT will allow your physician to view metabolic changes (if present) within the proper anatomical context of your body.
PET/CT will not only aid your doctor in diagnosing a potential problem, but will also help them in predicting possible therapeutic outcomes while pinpointing the best approach to treatment and monitoring your progress.
